Today, Breagh Isabel leans into the daydream on her new single Carrie (listen here). Written in a moment of daydreamy curiosity, Carrie is a queer summer bop born out of a classic main-character moment: spotting a stranger on the street and building a whole imaginary life around them. It's summery, fun, and bursting with energy.
With dreamy vocals and a playful groove produced by Robyn Dell’Unto, Breagh Isabel imagines a whole universe around a person she’ll never know as she gives them a name, a storyline, and a song. Carrie isn’t about someone in particular, but about the space a stranger can briefly occupy in your mind when you’re just in the mood to wander off into a daydream.
For anyone who’s ever spun a story about a random passerby or just likes a good tune to get lost in, Carrie is the perfect soundtrack for summer days, long drives, and stories you make up in your head.

"I wrote Carrie with my friend and incredible writer/producer, Robyn Dell’Unto, on a beautiful spring day in Nashville. I was in town wrapping up a two week writing trip, and we were chatting about our shared love for the band MUNA and all of their amazing “crush” songs. (One of our favourites is "Silk Chiffon"). The melody is so catchy and lyrics like "life's so fun, life’s so fun, got my miniskirt and my rollerblades on" it paints such a fun picture of a summer romance.
That same morning, on a walk near my Airbnb, I had spotted a girl in the park who looked super familiar, and I got totally sidetracked daydreaming about her story - who is she? where is he coming from? where is she going? I met up with Robyn at the studio and once I told her about this mystery girl we just decided to roll with it and make her the song's muse. We had a lot of fun writing this made-up love song about someone I’ll probably never meet.
We were brainstorming our favourite “name” songs like “Jolene, Roxanne, Valerie” and when “Carrie” was thrown out it was so easy to sing and just felt right. Just a daydream that turned into a feel good summer jam." - Breagh Isabel
