July 23, 2026 – Today, Toronto skate-punk favourites Shiv and the Carvers return with "Executionary," a new single that arrives as the band gears up for appearances at Loud Women Fest LDN in Shoreditch, UK this September, followed by a UK tour and then returning to play Toronto's Second Summer Festival later that month. Following a breakout run that earned praise from Exclaim!, Loud Women, RANGE Magazine, Punknews, and Billboard Canada, "Executionary" captures the band's razor-sharp songwriting and relentless energy while marking the beginning of their next chapter.
The song also arrives with a new music video inspired by lo-fi '90s DIY camcorder aesthetics, where Shiv awakens in the hazy aftermath of an all-night party, navigating a smoke-filled room. As the band carries the revelry into the next day, their hands and movements remain bound by ropes, struggling against invisible forces as they press on through the performance.

“Executionary” is equal parts 10 Things I Hate About You, as it is an ever-tightening anxiety spiral that disguises intrusive thoughts and self-punishment beneath alt-rock hooks, crunchy power chords, and anthemic skate-punk melodies. Trading in the band's trademark high-octane energy for a deceptively buoyant singalong, proving that the catchiest songs can often carry the heaviest truths.
Shiv shares, “The terror and shame that I feel over imagining the worst case scenario is the real punishment. Worrying only causes more suffering before the actual outcome occurs. I know this, but I love to punish myself before the world does.”

At the heart of the band is Shiv Scott's fiercely independent creative drive. A longtime DIY musician, Shiv has always approached songwriting and recording by diving in and learning as she goes. She forged that same determination through roller derby where she met guitarist Nicky. As the project evolved into a four-piece, that fearless mentality became the foundation of Shiv and the Carvers' razor-sharp chemistry and unforgettable live performances.
