Twin Fang Records Signs BIPOC/TRANS-Fronted Post-Punk Band Chinese Medicine

Debut EP Die Aspora, Produced by Wade MacNeil (Alexisonfire) Out Today

Opening for Hardcore Heavyweights Protest The Hero and Bad Waitress This May

Twin Fang Records is proud to welcome BIPOC/Trans-fronted post-punk band Chinese Medicine to its roster. Blending post punk, 80s new wave, and a heavy pour of queercore, Chinese Medicine provides a sound bursting at the seams with fury and grit. Hailing from Toronto, Chinese Medicine have cut their teeth on local floors like Bovine Sex Club, Hard Luck, and See Scape.

New EP Die Aspora, out now on Twin Fang Records, was produced by post-hardcore vet Wade MacNeil of Alexisonfire and engineered by Ian Romano (City & Colour, Attack in Black, Daniel Romano) which strengthen the EP’s place in the hardcore lane. Originally released independently in 2022, Die Aspora is a hard-hitting, side-splitting, exploration into the realities of living in a society designed to keep you on the outside. Thrashing through themes of otherness, corruption, and trans identity, Die Aspora packs heart pounding guitar riffs and explosive lyrics in just 10 short minutes. CBC called the EP "...urgent, commanding and impassioned."

"As a transgender punk musician, I never thought I would find a label that I could trust wholeheartedly with my art, until Twin Fang. When I got the initial email, I was over the moon. Not only is a label interested in my music but they are also designed for trans and queer people! Being a part of a label that is designed for trans artists is an amazing feeling and I am super pumped and honoured to be joining Twin Fang Records." - Juno Hailey (front women, Chinese Medicine)

"Chinese Medicine blew my mind when I saw them at the Bovine earlier this year. Their energy is unmatched and something I’ve never seen before. I can’t wait for the world to fall in love with this band." - Sarah Sleeth (Twin Fang Records)

They’ll be kicking off the Protest The Hero shows at Maxwell’s in Waterloo, BondSt in Oshawa, Bronson Centre in Ottawa, and closing it down at The Ale House in Kingston on June 1.
