March 14, 2025 – Today, Skate punk outfit Shiv and the Carvers have released their highly anticipated sophomore EP, Tell Me You Love Me Again, available now on Twin Fang Records across all streaming platforms.
The new collection showcases the band's evolution while staying true to their raw, energetic sound that listeners have come to love. Vocalist Shiv Scott delves into themes of vulnerability and emotional growth throughout the EP.
“"Tell Me You Love Me Again is all about the flurry of emotions that come with accepting and processing love - both self-love and falling in love. I was writing about the events happening in my life at the time - falling in love, a close friendship ending, self-reflection, my anger, and betrayal. It was therapeutic to put what was in my head into a piece of art to yell out into the world," shares Scott.
The EP features standout tracks including "Bully," a confrontational anthem where Scott flips the script on accusers, defiantly proclaiming "I'll be the villain in your story" while exposing hypocrisy and false narratives. "Meltdown" captures the raw vulnerability of emotional collapse with visceral imagery of "leaking fluid" and "exceeding limits," perfectly capturing the overwhelming sensation of losing control. The focus track, "I Want It All," is a frenetic exploration of insatiable desire, with Scott's razor-sharp lyrics addressing the compulsive need for instant gratification—whether through substances, sweets, or intimacy—and the cyclical pattern of consumption that follows.
“I Want It All is about consumption as compulsion to fill the void inside. It’s self-reflection about myself and my consumption habits. Food, candy, weed, love, sex - all things that I've used in the past to distract myself from my feelings. I sometimes get in these moods where I need to just consume something, anything really - I'll eat when I'm not hungry, or smoke weed when I'm bored, or have another drink when I really just want to go home. This song is a cathartic way for me to stop ignoring those feelings and deal with them instead of pushing them down with food, weed, etc.” - Shiv Scott
The band will commemorate the EP live at a release show in Toronto, ON at the Baby G with SO TIRED and Crocus. They will continue a stint of live dates, including a show with Brooklyn punk band THICK in Toronto, ON; as well as the renowned Pouzza Fest in Montreal, QC; and a string of dates with Bonnie Trash (Hand Drawn Dracula).
About Shiv and the Carvers:
Initially a solo project for Shiv, the band has evolved into a collaborative powerhouse, blending fierce hooks with thought-provoking lyrics on themes of sex, politics, culture, and identity. Their sound, forged in the punk-rich roller derby environment, pays homage to influences like The Donnas, Hole, and The Buzzcocks.
Incubated in the dusty warehouses of Toronto’s roller derby scene, Shiv and the Carvers have blasted their brand of roaring, queer punk rock in and around their hometown since 2022. Led by the lovable and explosive energy of vocalist Shiv Scott, guitarist Nicole Maxwell, bassist Annie Jane Marie (of Dilly Dally), and drummer Mike Wiznuk yearn to make the listener yell, dance, mosh, shake, and think critically.
Having performed with UK’s highly acclaimed political punks Lambrini Girls, selected to play Project Nowhere by Toronto tastemakers, and handpicked by Bif Naked to join her official CMW showcase, Shiv and the Carvers have become a staple in the city’s punk scene as they continue to build their live reputation brick by brick.
Their debut EP, Physical Capital (2023), garnered praise from renowned outlets such as Exclaim (including the group in their Class of 2024 series), Billboard Canada, RANGE Magazine, Spill Magazine, and Alan Cross’ Journal of Musical Things.
Tell Me You Love Me Again is available now to stream and to buy on cassette. Stay tuned for more from Shiv and the Carvers as they continue to push the boundaries of skate punk.
