We’ve all been there… offering steady support when someone close to us is going through something heavy. But what happens when that heaviness stretches on day after day, month after month, year after year? Breagh answers that question in her own way on “Looking Out For You,” a song dedicated to the quiet strength of those who carry that emotional weight and still believe, deep down, that there’s a light waiting at the end of the tunnel.
"Looking Out For You" is about the emotional weight of loving someone who’s struggling — or watching someone you love try to carry that weight for someone else. I wrote it over Zoom with Derek Hoffman, an incredible Toronto-based writer/producer, and it came from one of those conversations that just spilled out into a song. It’s about empathy, burnout, and the kind of love that holds everything together, even when it’s hard.
The lyric “I’m gonna wear myself down looking out, looking for you” really says it all. It’s that quiet kind of love, the kind that wears you out, but you keep showing up anyway. It’s a love song in its own way, just one that tells the truth about how heavy love can be sometimes.” - Breagh Isabel
Breagh reunits with close friend and longtime collaborator Mo Kenney for an intimate acoustic version of the song, captured in the inviting glow of Mo’s cozy living room in the heart of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Stay tuned for more music coming from Breagh Isabel this summer.
